Clay Morrow, still recovering from his own wounds, tries to exploit the situation. He sees an opportunity to undermine Jax by suggesting that Tig’s mistake shows Jax’s leadership is failing. Clay secretly meets with Pope, attempting to broker a separate deal that would protect himself and possibly regain power. Jax learns of this and confronts Clay, but Jax is still bound by club politics and Gemma’s interference.

Tig is emotionally shattered after accidentally killing Pope’s innocent daughter in a botched hit meant for Laroy (from season 4). Pope doesn’t want Tig dead immediately—he wants him to suffer.
