What set Akanishi apart was his audacity. In the late 2000s, he paused his skyrocketing career to study music in Los Angeles—a risky move few Japanese idols would dare. When he returned, he launched his solo project Jin Akanishi (later The Jet Boy Bangerz ), leaning fully into EDM and hip-hop.
