In the ninth installment of the Portrait Extreme series, the subject known only as "Schnuckel 53" becomes both mask and mirror. The "53" refers neither to age nor seat number, but to the 53rd minute of a three-hour set — that liminal moment when the dance floor exhales and true faces emerge. "Schnuckel" (a German term of endearment for a cuddly person) is used here with ironic tenderness: the subject is at once untouchable and desperately human.
