The “Ara” in the title likely references the scarlet macaw ( Ara macao ), but here, the sample is twisted into a percussive stutter—half bird, half broken 909. By the 2-minute mark, the track sheds its skin into a euphoric but deeply unstable jungle breakdown, complete with rave stabs that feel just slightly out of tune. It’s chaotic, gorgeous, and over before you’ve figured out the time signature.

Mark your calendars. Clean your ears. And for the love of bass, don’t sleep on this one.

If you’ve been following the margins of the post-club, deconstructed hardcore scene, you’ll know Hunt4k doesn’t do straightforward. This release is no exception. Ara Mix opens with what sounds like a misdialled conference call being fed through a broken Korg Volca. Then the kick drops—off-grid, fungal, and swinging like a fire door in a gale. Hunt4k layers parakeet chatter (field-recorded in North London) over a bassline that seems to breathe and retract.
