On the fifth second, Leo sprinted.

"Drop it," the kid said. His voice shook. "I'm not everyone," Leo said

He reached the tower base just as a bullet pinged off the concrete where his head had been. He didn't look back. He climbed. "I'm not everyone

Leo was none of those. He was a Courier—a neutral runner. His job was to carry messages, supplies, and sometimes hope. Tonight, he carried a working battery and a sealed data chip.

"I copy," Leo whispered. "Approaching the tower. There's movement."
